A pivot shot is a scoring attempt taken by the line player. This shot often happens while the player is spinning or falling down. The pivot must catch the ball and shoot quickly before being blocked. Because it occurs at the six meter line, it has a high success. These shots require excellent body control and a very quick arm release. A line player takes a pivot shot while falling into the goal area. This athletic move is difficult for goalkeepers to stop due to proximity. Players must ensure they release the ball before touching the floor inside area. Most pivot shots are directed toward the bottom corners of the goal net. Consistent pivot shooting is a hallmark of an elite and dangerous offensive team.
