Definition: A pop fly is a ball hit high into the air that stays within or near the infield. Because it travels more vertically than horizontally, it is usually easy for a fielder to settle under it and catch it for an out.
Example: The batter got under the ball too much and hit a routine pop fly that the second baseman caught easily.
