Power Line Meaning in Softball

The power line is an imaginary straight path from the pitcher’s rubber to home plate. Pitchers aim to keep their body and stride aligned with this direct central target line. Proper alignment along the power line ensures maximum speed and better control over pitches. If a pitcher steps off this line the ball may travel wide of zone. A pitcher strides perfectly down the power line to deliver a high velocity strike pitch. This allows the arm to snap through the bottom of the circle with force. Staying on this line prevents the pitcher from wasting energy with side to side motion. Coaches often draw a physical line in the dirt to help players practice alignment. This concept is vital for developing a consistent and dominant fastpitch softball delivery.
