A push shot is a quick scoring attempt using a pushing arm motion. The player releases the ball with a short and fast extension of the arm. This technique is faster than a full overarm throw and surprises the goalkeeper. It is especially useful for the line player who has very little space. The ball travels on a direct and flat path toward the goal net. An attacker uses a push shot to score from the six meter line. This movement requires strong wrists and the ability to react in split seconds. Players practice this shot to increase their scoring efficiency in crowded court areas. The lack of a long wind-up makes the timing very hard to predict. A successful push shot often results in a goal before the defense reacts.
