A rack refers to the complete set of ten pins arranged in a triangle at the start of a frame. The machine in the back of the lane sets a fresh rack after every successful strike or frame. Sometimes the pins are not lined up perfectly, which players call a bad rack that might affect their aim.
Bowlers can ask for a re-rack if they notice a pin is off its spot. For example, the player waited for the machine to set a new rack before starting the tenth frame.
