Reset Meaning in Weightlifting

A reset involves returning to the starting position and pausing briefly between repetitions of a lifting set. Instead of bouncing the bar off the floor the athlete stops to fix their grip and posture. This ensures that every single repetition starts with the same perfect technique and a stable body tension. Resetting helps the lifter practice the initial pull from the floor which is a critical part of the lift. An athlete sets the bar down and takes a deep breath before performing the next heavy clean.
