Right Wing Meaning in Handball

The right wing is an agile player who occupies the right corner. This position is ideally suited for left-handed players to maximize the shooting angle. The right wing stays near the sideline and sprints during every fast break. They often perform spectacular jumps into the goal area to score from corners. Defensively the right wing marks the opposing left wing player near the sideline. A right wing leaps from the corner to score a diving goal. This player must have great balance and speed to be truly effective. Being left-handed allows the player to keep the ball away from defense. Coaches look for high speed and clinical finishing when selecting players for this. The right wing provides essential width and scoring variety to a team’s offense.
