Rolling Substitution Meaning in Netball

A rolling substitution is a modern rule allowing players to switch during active play on court. Unlike traditional rules, the game does not stop for the change to take place. The player leaving must exit the court before the new player can enter the game. This change happens at a designated substitution zone near the middle of the court sideline. A coach uses a rolling substitution to bring on a fresh center during a fast transition. This system allows teams to maintain a very high intensity throughout the entire sixty-minute match.
