Singlet Meaning in Weightlifting

A singlet consists of a tight one piece garment worn by athletes during weightlifting competitions. This specialized clothing ensures that judges can see the body clearly during every lift. The fabric fits closely to prevent the barbell from catching on loose material during movement. Most singlets feature stretchy materials like spandex to allow a full range of deep motion. A lifter puts on a red singlet before stepping onto the wooden platform for trials. Proper fit prevents fabric Bunching which might interfere with the quick path of the bar. Many athletes wear a thin shirt under the singlet for added comfort and skin protection.
