Sode-Guruma-Jime is a sleeve wheel strangle performed by crossing the arms together. The attacker wraps one arm around the neck and grabs the opposite sleeve. This action creates a tight loop that applies pressure to the throat. The player uses the fabric of the uniform to increase the force. One game example shows a player forcing a submission during ground combat. This choke can be applied from either the front or the back. Proper execution requires the attacker to keep the wrists firm and strong. Success depends on the ability to close the space around the neck. Strategy involves hiding the intent of the choke until the grip is set. This move is a very effective and common tool for ground fighting.
