A split jump is a specialized movement used by lineout jumpers to gain maximum height and stability. The player leaps into the air and spreads their legs slightly to allow teammates to get a firm grip. Two lifters grab the jumper’s thighs and propel them upward to reach the ball at its highest point. This technique requires incredible core strength and balance from the person being lifted into the air. The goal is to snatch the ball before the opposing team’s jumper can reach it.
