A stand-up is a basic escape from the bottom. You build a strong base first. Then you rise to your feet quickly. Hand control prevents being pulled back down. Balance is important while standing. You must clear the opponent’s grip. Once free, you turn and face them. For example, a wrestler stands up and breaks the hold. The referee awards one point for escape. Stand-ups are simple but effective. Good posture makes them stronger.
