Stop Shot Meaning in Billiards

A stop shot makes the cue ball stop immediately after contact. The player hits the center of the cue ball. This creates no forward or backward spin. When the cue ball hits the object ball, it loses motion. It stays almost exactly in place. Players use this for precise position control.
