A suspension is a penalty where a player must leave for two minutes. The referee signals this by holding up two fingers to the offending player. This happens after serious fouls or repeated warnings for illegal physical contact. The team must play with one fewer player until the time penalty ends. This disadvantage makes it much easier for the opposing team to score goals. A defender receives a suspension for a dangerous hit on a jumping attacker.
