Tall Snatch Meaning in Weightlifting

The tall snatch involves performing a snatch lift from a standing position with the heels already lifted. The athlete holds the barbell at the hip level and must pull themselves under the weight instantly. This drill eliminates the power generated by the legs to isolate the mechanics of the third pull. It builds the confidence and speed necessary to catch heavy weights in a deep overhead squat position. A weightlifter snaps under a light barbell to catch it with locked arms in a low squat. This movement requires excellent coordination and fast reflexes to be performed with correct technical form. Improving this phase of the lift leads to much higher success rates during heavy competition attempts.
