The third pull describes the explosive phase where the lifter pulls themselves down under the barbell. This happens after the legs have fully extended and the bar is moving upward. The athlete uses the arms to aggressively move their body into a deep squat position. Speed during this transition is critical for catching heavy weights before they start falling. A lifter snaps their elbows forward very fast to catch the bar at the shoulders. This movement requires perfect timing and high confidence to get under the heavy metal bar. Mastering this pull allows the athlete to lift much more than their raw strength.
