Training Max Meaning in Weightlifting

The training max is a weight value used to calculate daily lifting loads during practice. It usually represents about ninety percent of an athlete’s absolute best single lift ever performed. Using this slightly lower number ensures that the lifter can finish all scheduled training sets. This prevents the athlete from burning out or getting injured by lifting too heavy daily. A coach tells the athlete to lift eighty percent of their training max for five. This system allows for consistent progress without the stress of testing a true max every week. It keeps the training sessions productive and sustainable over a long period of time.
