Uchi-Mata-Otoshi is an inner thigh drop throw that targets the balance. The attacker enters for a sweep but drops the body weight downward. Instead of a high lift, the player pulls the defender toward the mat. This action forces the opponent to fall over the attacking leg. One game example involves a player scoring by dropping under the defender. This technique works well against an opponent who stands with a high posture. The attacker must use a strong downward pulling motion to finish the move. Success depends on the speed of the transition from standing to the floor. Strategy involves getting the center of gravity as low as possible for leverage. This move offers a more direct alternative to the standard inner thigh throw.
