Wing Attack Meaning in Netball

The wing attack is an offensive midcourt position responsible for feeding the ball into the shooting circle. This player is allowed in the center third and the attacking goal third, but not the circle. Their primary role involves finding space near the edge of the circle to deliver accurate passes to shooters. High levels of agility and speed are required to lose the wing defence marker during a match. A wing attack takes a sideline throw-in to pass the ball directly to the goal shooter. They act as the main playmaker for the team and must have excellent vision of the goal. Strong delivery of both bounce passes and lob passes is a hallmark of a great wing attack. One real-world example shows the wing attack driving to the pocket to set up a goal.
