Wrist Wraps Meaning in Weightlifting

Wrist wraps consist of supportive fabric strips that athletes wrap around their wrists for added joint stability. These accessories help the lifter maintain a strong and straight wrist position under heavy overhead loads. They provide compression which reduces the strain on the small bones and tendons during the catch phase. Most lifters use them during heavy snatches, cleans, or jerks to prevent pain and improve comfort. An athlete tightens their cloth wrist wraps before attempting a personal best in the clean and jerk. Proper application ensures the wrap is tight enough for support but does not stop blood flow. These tools allow lifters to train more frequently without excessive wear on the wrist joints.
