A Push Shot (sometimes called a “Push”) happens when your ball hits another ball already on the court and moves it forward.
How It Works
- The Contact: You throw your ball so that it physically bumps into another ball.
- The Movement: The force of your throw “pushes” the stationary ball into a new position.
- The Result: Both balls move. Your ball usually slows down or stops, while the ball you hit rolls further away.
Why Players Use It
Players use the push shot for two main reasons:
- To Improve Their Own Score: You can hit one of your own balls to push it closer to the pallino (the target ball).
- To Ruin the Opponent’s Score: You can hit an opponent’s ball to push it away from the target.
Strategy and Risk
The push shot requires great aim. If you hit the ball at the wrong angle, you might accidentally push your opponent’s ball closer to the target or knock your own ball out of play. It is a bold move that can change the entire “frame” of the game in one second.
